Eco Minerals Vegan Makeup Review & Swatches
Mineral makeup is, and will always forever and ever be my bae. It’s typically non-toxic, often vegan by default, and in most cases, it’s actually good for your skin (and especially great for those with sensitive skin). Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I dabble in makeup that isn’t technically “green” or “clean” (e.g. Too Faced, Kat Von D, LUSH, Cover FX, etc.), but when I’m not reviewing a specific makeup brand, and I’m just being me in my day-to-day me-ness, I almost always reach fo’ the minerals, yo.
I was recently sent some samples from Australia-based, vegan and cruelty-free makeup line Eco Minerals, and as you can imagine, I was all up in that ish the second I opened the box.
Let’s dive in!
Eco Mineral Goodies I got to test drive:
Alchemy Hi Light Creme, $33 AUD (~$25 USD) – This is a really pretty, shimmy highlighting/light reflecting cream that’s suited for all skin types and shades. I personally like to use it under my brow bone, above my cheekbones, and a teensy bit down the enter of my forehead through the tip of my nose. I like that it’s subtle with a golden, glow-y hue (I’m so over white and white-ish pink highlighters for the face… ain’t workin’ for my olive skin). I also appreciate that it’s a cream versus a powder – makes it super easy to blend.
Indian Summer Mineral Eyeshadow, $22 AUD (~$16.50) – This is a lurrrvely warm bronze, shimmery contour shade. It works with a ton of neutral shades, and I especially love it for a casual, daytime brown smokey eye. It’s gorgeous, it blends nicely, and it’s really flattering.
Eco Exotic Mineral Bronzer, $33 AUD (~$25 USD) – I used to never use bronzers. In fact, for awhile, I was super confused about all the hype… that is, until contouring became a thing! I use bronzer every single day now, and I’m practically obsessed! This mineral bronzer has natural SPF and comes in three shades:
- Holiday – terracotta bronze for light/medium skins
- ECO Exotic – semi matte bronzer suits all skins, great for contouring *BEST SELLER*
- Summer – classic true bronze with subtle luminance
I’m super stoked on the shade Eco Exotic as it’s not too dark or barely there – it’s absolutely perfect for a beautiful and natural-looking sun kissed glow.
Nude Beige Flawless Foundation, $33 AUD (~$25 USD) – This powder foundation is suitable for all skin types, especially oily and combo (mhm, sounds like some lovely oil soppage goin’ down). It has a matte finish, provides excellent coverage, and it literally feels as though you aren’t wearing makeup at all (my fave aspect of mineral makeup in general). It’s always hard to match foundation shades online, but the nice thing about these powders is that you can add a bit of bronzer to darken them up… which I will most likely need to do this summer.
Overall impression: This 100% vegan beauty line offers beautiful, high-quality makeup that’s squeaky clean and relatively affordable (not sure what shipping costs are like to the states, but that will need to be factored in). I always notice that my skin feels and looks healthier (and blemish-free-ier) when I use products with pure ingredients. And since we ladies go about our day wearing makeup for 8-12ish hours, its hella important to keep our pores breathable and happy. If you want really good coverage that feels light and barely there, mineral makeup is probably for you. Btw, if you wanna turn powder foundation into a moisture-rich liquid foundation (perfect for dry or mature skin), just add a bit of jojoba oil. Works like a charm.
What’s your favorite line of vegan-friendly mineral makeup?
